Анотація: This text is constructed to educate clinicians on the general classification and diagnostic approach to soft tissue tumors, such that they feel more empowered to discuss the relevant features of particular cases with their pathology colleagues. Particular consideration is given to diagnostically and prognostically relevant ancillary studies. The first section addresses the basic foundations of soft tissue pathology, including common morphologic patterns, approach to grading, concepts of immunohistochemistry and molecular studies. Following this introductory section, each soft tissue tumor is presented according to its morphologic differentiation. Sections include lipomatous tumors, fibrous lesions, fibrohistiocytic tumors, neural and nerve sheath tumors, and smooth muscle neoplasms. Each entity is presented in a consistent and organized manner, first discussing the clinical presentation and then addressing the gross and microscopic features. Following this, the immunohistochemical and molecular findings are presented The text then briefly discusses prognosis and treatment. Representative photographs of the microscopic appearance will be included in a large format. Soft Tissue Pathology for Clinicians will further patient care by concisely educating the clinician on the relevant aspects of soft tissue diagnostics. Анотація: This book provides practicing pathologists, dermatologists, cutaneous oncologists and dermatopathologists with a reference textbook that reviews the clinical and histopathologic features of skin disorders that affect children, along with a discussion of the molecular pathogenesis for each disease as it is currently known. The book includes a concise discussion of the clinical presentation, as well as the histologic and, when appropriate, immunohistochemical features of each disease. The book is divided into two main sections, non-neoplastic and neoplastic skin diseases. Each section is comprised of a series of chapters organized according to histologic findings rather than by clinical classification systems. This will enable the practicing pathologist to browse chapters based upon observation of routine histologic patterns. Each chapter addresses the differential diagnoses of skin disorders with focus on salient histologic characteristics. The text is richly illustrated with over 1000 colorful clinical and histologic photographs for each of the 400 entities discussed. Анотація: This richly illustrated book, in an extensively revised new edition, provides a comprehensive survey of the role of medical imaging studies in the detection, staging, grading, tissue characterization, and post-treatment follow-up of soft tissue tumors. The indications for and relative merits of various imaging modalities are fully described, with particular emphasis on the role of advanced MRI techniques that can improve diagnostic accuracy and evaluation of treatment response. The most recent version of the WHO Classification of Soft Tissue Tumors is introduced, and individual chapters are devoted to imaging of each of the tumor groups in that classification as well as other soft tissue masses. Numerous new illustrations of both common and rare tumors are included, providing a rich pictorial database of soft tissue masses. In addition, imaging findings are correlated with clinical, epidemiologic, and histologic data.
