Анотація: This book provides a comprehensive account of vascular biology and pathology and its significance for health and disease. It systematically and chronologically explains how we came to our current understanding of the vasculature and it´s  function today, and describes in an entertaining way the diverse flaws and turns in science and medicine from the past. It thereby offers a complete and well-studied history on vascular biology and medicine.  The book has an easy-to-read style and is written for students as well as scientists, physicians and lecturers in the field of biomedicine, human physiology, cardiology and hematology.

    Therapeutic Angiogenesis [Electronic resource] / ed.: Higashi, Yukihito., Murohara, Toyoaki. - 1st ed. 2017. - [S. l. : s. n.]. - VI, 266 p. 57 illus., 37 illus. in color. - ISBN 9789811027444

   Cardiology.

   Regenerative Medicine/Tissue Engineering.

Анотація: The book discusses recent findings and current perspectives on therapeutic angiogenesis. Studies have shown that therapies such as cell implantation and transfer of gene encoding for angiogenic growth factors are effective in improving symptoms in patients with critical limb ischemia, who previously had no treatment option other than amputation. The book discusses these therapies and presents data collected in clinical studies over the past decade. Despite significant advances in therapeutic angiogenesis since the first clinical studies in the early 21st century, it has been largely ignored in the literature. This comprehensive book fills that gap, making it a valuable resource for both researchers and practitioners alike.

    The Neuropilins: Role and Function in Health and Disease [Electronic resource] / ed.: Neufeld, Gera., Kessler, Ofra. - 1st ed. 2017. - [S. l. : s. n.]. - VI, 239 p. 38 illus., 28 illus. in color. - ISBN 9783319488240

   Neurosciences.

   Developmental Biology.

   Cell Biology.

Анотація: This book covers basic research topics such as the structure-function relationships of neuropilins and mechanisms of neuropilin-mediated signal transduction, details the most important roles of the neuropilins in developmental biology, and addresses their roles in various conditions such as cancer and various eye diseases. The two neuropilin genes encode scaffold receptors that can bind several different ligands, and also associate with many other receptors and modify their activity. Further, it has been confirmed that they play important roles in the shaping of major organs and tissues such as the nervous system and the vascular system, and that they can modulate immune responses. The book offers a helpful guide for biomedical researchers and all scientists active in the neurosciences, vascular and molecular biology, as well as developmental biology and immunology.

    Cancer Therapeutic Targets [Electronic resource] / ed. Marshall, John L. - 1st ed. 2017. - [S. l. : s. n.]. - 51 illus., 42 illus. in color. eReference. - ISBN 9781441907172

   Pharmacology/Toxicology.

Анотація: In the past decade, we have experienced an explosion of new information about cancer therapeutic targets. Many of the targets have been validated by the discovery and approval of new medicines which have been approved for the treatment of cancer. On the heels of these successes, innumerable new targets and new potential therapeutics are being developed by many different groups including government agencies, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and individual investigators. Understanding the expanding "universe" of cancer therapies is therefore becoming impossible and no single source exists which serves as a reference for the involved parties. Further, the interested parties have vastly different areas of expertise, from focused laboratory based science, to clinical research, to corporate and regulatory oversight. The text would be updated every two years, more often depending on pace of change, interest and sales. While useful online, this reference book would likely be kept in hard copy as well.
